Why choose iFillPDF

6 positions

Top/bottom × left/center/right — pick what fits your layout.

Four formats

Plain numbers, "1 / 12", "Page 1 of 12" or Roman numerals for front matter. Four fixed choices rather than a free-text template — enough for almost every document, and nothing to get wrong.

Start from any page

Skip a cover or a table of contents by setting the page to start from: choose 3 and pages 1 and 2 stay clean. Worth knowing exactly how it behaves — page 3 will be stamped "3", not "1".…

Browser-first

Numbering runs locally — your PDF does not leave your machine.

Technical details

Stamp 1, 2, 3 — or 1 / 12, Page 1 of 12, or Roman numerals — on every page. Pick one of six positions, choose the page to start numbering from, and preview live before downloading. The numbers are set in 11pt Helvetica, dark grey, 36 points from the edge: sensible defaults rather than a font menu.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?+

Yes, fully free with no signup. Number as many PDFs as you want.

Is my data safe?+

Yes — we host in Frankfurt (EU), AES-256 at rest. Files never leave your computer — processed in your browser.

Can I start numbering from a different page?+

You can choose the page to start from — set it to 3 and the first two pages are left unnumbered. What you cannot do is restart the count: page 3 is stamped "3", not "1", because the number always matches the real position in the document. If you need front matter numbered separately, split the file, number each part, then merge — all three tools are free and run in your browser.

Will the numbers overlap my content?+

The number sits 36 points in from the edge of the page, which clears the margin on almost every standard layout. If your document already has a footer there, pick a different one of the six positions — the live preview shows collisions immediately. The margin itself is not adjustable.
